The anticipated reopening of the Derby Diamond intersection has been delayed due to an unexpected delay in the delivery of critical lighting equipment. We know this situation has been challenging, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work through the final stages of the Derby intersection improvements.
The reopening is delayed due to supply chain issues that are affecting the delivery of the festoon lighting and street‑lighting luminaires. These lighting improvements must be made while the intersection is closed, and increasing the overall illumination in the area is an important goal of the project. The light poles for this equipment are scheduled to arrive on August 18, and installation will begin immediately. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed the final delivery date for the remaining materials, but we are in daily contact and will share an updated completion timeline as soon as it becomes available.
We recognize the impact this has on nearby businesses and residents. Our team is actively coordinating with the business community to reduce disruption wherever possible. Even with this delay, we remain excited about what this project will deliver: stronger lighting, a more welcoming streetscape, improved safety, and a refreshed destination within the Derby district. These upgrades represent meaningful, long‑term investments in the neighborhood and in our community’s future.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we work to complete this project the right way. We will provide additional updates in the coming weeks. Visit c3gov.com/Derby to learn more.
