Eight Commerce City businesses recognized at awards breakfast

Commerce City, COLO. (April 23, 2026) –
Commerce City proudly celebrated eight outstanding local businesses on Wednesday at the annual Business Appreciation Awards Breakfast, held at the Bison Ridge Recreation Center. This signature event shines a spotlight on the businesses, individuals, and organizations whose innovation, leadership, and dedication help drive Commerce City’s economic vitality.
A diverse selection committee made up of business leaders from across the community reviewed all nominations and selected the following award recipients, each recognized for their exceptional contributions and commitment to making Commerce City a thriving place to live, work, and do business:
Business of the Year Award: La Casa del Rey
A cherished institution that has served generations of Commerce City residents for 40 years. During that time, they have shown a history of leadership within the restaurant industry and the community. Specializing in fresh local flavors, their menu honors their grandmother’s original recipes. They have demonstrated longevity and sustained growth and have contributed to the city’s economic sustainability and vitality.
Business on the Move Awards:
JFW Corporation:
A local trucking company, JFW Corporation, has been in business since 1935. Having called Commerce City home since 1979, JFW is currently developing a new centralized facility and plans to add several new jobs.
UECompression:
In business for 40 years, UECompression provides compressed gas to local industries. They continue to make new capital investments in their facility and plan to hire 50 new employees in the near future.
Entrepreneurial Spirit Award: American Canine Academy
Over its 20-year history, they have trained and cared for 10,000+ dogs. Serving a wide spectrum of needs, they plan to continue to support the community and have plans to grow in the future.
Economic Development Awards for Leadership:
Kids First Health Care:
A non-profit pediatric health care clinic, Kids First Health Care, whose mission is to improve the lives and health of children. Originally located within Adams High School, the clinic recently moved and expanded into a location at South Adams Tower that serves as the base of operations for its 50 employees.
Partners in the Commerce City Promise Community College of Aurora (CCA) and Rocky Mountain Partnership (RMP) Cradle to Career:
An innovative program that offers residents funding for education,
Commerce City Promise,
works to advance the workforce pipeline. CCA and RMP assist the city in making it easier for residents to access opportunities and quality jobs.
Minority Business Award: Commerce City Dentist
A full-service dental office located in the heart of Derby for the past 12 years. Treating patients like family, their 7-person team supports the community by providing outstanding, personalized customer service.
Sustainability Award: Stadium Auto Parts
In business since 1945, they serve the auto recycling industry, having recently expanded their facility to 30 acres. Using high-tech tools and equipment, they are able to recycle 95% of every vehicle in the process.
